Brahmin : An alien element in the Hindu society

“The record of the Brahmins as law givers for the Shudras, for the Untouchables and for women is the blackest as compared with the record of the intellectual classes in other parts of the world. For no intellectual class has prostituted its intelligence to invent a philosophy to keep his uneducated countrymen in a perpetual state of ignorance and poverty as the Brahmins have done in India. Every Brahmin today believes in this philosophy of Brahmanism propounded by his forefathers. He is an alien element in the Hindu Society. The Brahmin vis-a-vis Shudras and the Untouchables as foreign as the German is to the French, as the Jew is to the Gentile or as the White is to the Negro. There is a real gulf between him and the lower classes of Shudras and Untouchables. He is not only alien to them but he is also hostile to them. In relationship with them, there is no room for conscience and there is no call for justice.”

“शूद्रांसाठी, अस्पृश्यांसाठी, आणि स्त्रियांसाठी कायदाकर्ते म्हणून असलेली ब्राह्मणांची नोंद, ही जगाच्या इतर भागातील बुद्धिजीवी वर्गाच्या तुलनेत अत्यंत दुष्ट आहे. ते यासाठी की, कोणत्याच बुद्धिजीवी वर्गाने आपल्या देशबांधवांप्रति असा बौद्धिक व्यभिचार केला नाहीये जसा भारतात ब्राह्मणांनी आपल्या अशिक्षित देशबांधवांप्रति त्यांना चिरंतन अज्ञानावस्थेत आणि दारिद्र्यात खितपत ठेवणाऱ्या विचारसरणीस रचून केला आहे. प्रत्येक ब्राह्मण आजमितीस या ब्राह्मणवादी विचारसरणीवर विश्वास ठेवून आहे जी त्याच्या बापदाद्यांनी प्रक्षेपित केली. हिंदू समाजात तो एक बाह्य घटक आहे. ब्राह्मण हा शूद्र आणि अस्पृश्यांशी तुलना करता, जसा जर्मन व्यक्ती फ्रेंच व्यक्तीसाठी, ज्यू व्यक्ती हा जेंटायल व्यक्तीसाठी किंवा जसा श्वेत व्यक्ती हा अश्वेत व्यक्तीसाठी परकीय असतो तसा आहे. ब्राह्मण व खालच्या वर्गांतील शूद्र तसेच अस्पृश्य यांच्या दरम्यान खरीखुरी दरी आहे. तो त्यांच्यासाठी केवळ परकीयच नव्हे तर तो त्यांचा हितशत्रूही आहे. या ब्राह्मण लोकांकडून, इतरांच्या बाबतीत त्यांना कर्तव्याची जाण असण्याची तसूभरही जागा नाही आणि न्यायाची तसूभरही अपेक्षा करता येण्याजोगे नाही.”
